- reddish gold to russet colored hair
- government controlled breeding program (W. Germany)
- developed as dual purpose breed, learned toward beef production
- early maturing exotic,good disposition, excellent fertility
- steers that finish at ~ 1200 pounds
Simmental (Switzerland)
- range in color stage colored through light red to dark red
- gentle disposition,heaviest milking continental breed, large framed, large mature size
- fast growing in the feedlot, muscular carcasses
- below average marbling
- early maturing sexually, very fertile
- purebreds producing twins fifth in annual registrations
