Q

what is the impact of cerebral artery occlusion (stroke) on the brain? (Anterior, Middle, Posterior cerebral occlusion)

A

Anterior:
- Contralateral (opposite side) hemiparesis (hard to move) hemisensory (hard to feel sensation) loss MAINLY THE LEG & FOOT

Middle:
- Contralateral hemiparesis and hemisensory loss involving mainly the face & arm

Posterior:
- Contralateral homonymous hemianopia (over half field of vision blindness) with some degree of macular sparing (central field of view spared)

Q

What is a dural venous sinus and whats its function?

A

Spaces between periosteal & meningeal layers of dura, they are lined by endothelium.

Function: Venous drainage of brain and CSF reabsorption via arachnoid vili
