Indications

Box Jellyfish envenomation with any of the following;
- cardiac arrest
- decreased level of consciousness
- cardiac AND/OR respiratory distress
- total surface area over half of affected limb
- pain unresponsive to narcotic analgesia or ice packs

- allergy or adverse drug reaction

- antivenom is foreign protein, can cause sensitisation, allergic reaction or anaphylaxis

ampoule, 20’000 units/1.5-4mL box antivenom

- mix 20’000 units with sodium chloride 0.9% in a 30mL springfusor syringe
- final concentration of 20’000 units/20mL
- administered at rate of 60mL/hour (20mins)
