What are the four main sections of the Old Testament?
Law.

What do the first five books in the law section of the Old Testament tell us about?
How Jews became people of God also contain the ‘laws’ or guidelines God wanted Jews to follow (including the ten commandments).
What do the books in the history section of the Old Testament tell us about?
How God guided the Jews + how often refused to listen. Stories included to help future generations not make the same mistakes.
What do the books in the wisdom section of the Old Testament tell us about?
Includes a mixture of prayers, psalms, poems + books of advice to help people understand their faith + live in way that pleases God.
What do the books in the prophecy section of the Old Testament tell us about?
Books of prophets whose inspired words challenged people to remain faithful to God + taught them that God active in world.
What do the books in the Gospel section of the New Testament tell us about?
Cover actions + teachings of Jesus.
What do the books in the Acts of the Apostles section of the New Testament tell us about?
Some events in the early Church (up to about 60CE).
What do the books in the Epistles section of the New Testament tell us about?
Letters that were written by the Apostles + discuss how to follow Jesus’ teachings in everyday life.
What do the books in the Revelations section of the New Testament tell us about?
Written by the Apostle John. Includes his own mystical visions, which some Christians believe describe the end of the world.
What are the two parts that the Bible is divided into?
New Testament and Old Testament.
Which people wrote the New Testament?
Backed by the authority of the Apostles or someone close to them. Written close to Jesus’ life or soon after Jesus’ death.
What is meant by the term ‘Apostles’?
The 12 disciples specially chosen by Jesus.
What does the word ‘disciple’ mean?
Follower.
