What is the definition of violence for Christians?
Violence is a rejection of ideals God wants for the world.
What does peace mean?
Not only lack of violence but also deep feeling of wellbeing + inner calm.
What is bullying?
Deliberate intimidation of person through words or physical actions.

What is reconciliation?
1) Restoring of harmony after relationships have broken down.
2) sacrament in the Catholic Church.
What does reconciliation refer to?
Bringing back together 2 parties that have been torn apart by some kind of difference. Jesus taught that people have to be reconciled to each other before they can offer suitable praise to God.
What is justice?
Bringing about what is right + fair, according to law, or making up for a wrong that has been committed.
What is righteous anger?
Anger against an injustice; some Christians use the term to describe anger that they believe is acceptable.
What is the just war theory?
A set of criteria that a war needs to meet before it can be justified.
What are the criteria for a just war?
Only legitimate authority can declare war.
Country should not go to war without serious + just reason for doing so.
War should only be declared if all other means of settling the dispute have been tried + have failed.
Country should not go to war if there is not a reasonable chance of success.
Any use of weapons must be limited to only what needed to bring about lasting peace. Weapons must not be too destructive.
Innocent people or civilians should not be attacked.
What is a quote that suggests that war can never be justified?
“Nothing is lost by peace; everything may be lost by war.” (Pope Pius XII).
What is pacifism?
Belief of people who refuse to take part in war + any other form of violence.
What is terrorism?
Unlawful use of violence, usually against innocent civilians, to achieve political goal.
