What are the pharyngeal attachments on the skull?

A
  • Scaphoid fossa
  • -posterior between medial and lateral pterygoid plates on base of skull
  • -attachment site for tensor palati
  • Hook of hamulus: Tensor palati “Hooks” around this process on the medial pterygoid plate to tense soft palate.
  • Pharyngeal tubercule: in midline, just anterior to foramen magnum
  • -marks posterior/ superior boundary of pharynx and its an attachment site for superior constrictor
