Bones : Arms Flashcards
Acromial end
Flat end of clavicle- lateral side
Clavicle
Collar bone
Sternal end
Triangular end of clavicle - medial side
Scapula
Shoulder blade
Spine
Ridge on superior side of scapula. Superior end of bone.
Acromion
Flat, fat end of spine on scapula.
Supraspinous fossa
Scoop superior to spine on scapula
Infraspinous fossa
Scoop inferior to spine on scapula. Not facing ribs.
Subscapular fossa
Smooth side facing ribs on scapula
Glenoid cavity
Where the humorous sits in scapula
Coracoid process
Little projection of bone by Glenoid cavity (means raven) beak
Medial border
Basically the medial side of the scapula
Lateral border
Basically the lateral side of the scapula
Humerus
Big arm bone
Greater tubercle
Big bump by/on head of humerus. More lateral
Lesser tubercle
Little bump by/on head of humerus. More anterior.
Intertubercular sulcus
Aka Intertubercular groove. Groove between tubercles
Deltoid tuberosity
Ridge of bone on lateral side. Half way down humerus.
Medial epicondyle
Big bump on humerus. Can feel it on medial side by elbow.
Lateral epicondyle
Smaller bump on humerus on lateral side by elbow.
Capitulum
Small smooth surface. “Little bald head”. On medial side.
Radial fossa
Little pit on medial side by elbow and by capitulum.
Trochlea
Smooth surface more lateral to capitulum. Distal end of humerus. V shaped.
Coronoid fossa
More lateral to radial fossa. Little pit on lateral, distal side of elbow.
Olecranon fossa
Big scoop on posterior side of elbow.
Radius
Thumb side bone. Shorter than ulna
Head of radius
Cup end
Radial tuberosity
Bump next to neck and head
Ulnar notch
Smooth surface that connects the ulna to the radius. Distal end of radius.
Styloid process
Most distal pointy end of radius
Ulna
Pinky side bone of arm. Longer than the radius.
Olecranon
Aka Olecranon process. Part of trochlear notch. Is the elbow bone. More proximal.
Trochlear notch
C shaped notch on ulna
Coronoid process
More distal pointy end of trochlear notch on ulna.
Radial notch
Notch for radius on the Coronoid process. Lateral. More proximal on ulna.
Styloid process
Sharp piece of bone. Lump can see/feel next to pinky.
Carpals
Ball bones of wrist
Metacarpals
Long bones in hand
Phalanges
Finger bones.
