Q

Cartilage

A
  • Firm smooth, resilient, non-vascular connective tissue
  • Cartilage cells and matrix is made of 70-85% water, protein and ground susbtance (protogrycans trap water)
  • Hyaline, elastic and fibrocarilage
  • Bones develope from cartilage
  • Difficult to repair because it is non-vascular

Q

Fibrocartilage

A
  • Strongest of all due to orientation and density
  • Found in areas that require lots of support such as intervertebral disk.
