Discuss the Bomb threat organization

A

Operations/CSE, Logistics, Deck, Section Base Team 1, Section Base Team 2, Section Base Team 3,

Explosive Ordinance Identification Team (EOIT). One to 2 Explosive Ordinance Identifications teams composed from the ship’s Demolition team with the Demolition Officer in Charge, shall be formed at sea.

Alongside, the On Scene Commander/ OOD shall use at least one EOI team to help with identification of as suspected IED

What are the procedures to follow in the event of a bomb threat?

A

(1) Collect information from the caller
(2) Make the correct Pipe
(3) Assume role as on-scene commander
(4) Call XO/CO
(5) Initiate ship’s recall as required
(6) Inform other ships and QHM
(7) Brief ship’s company and organizing bomb threat response team with Duty PO
(8) Establish control at the brow
(9) Initiate a search plan using bomb box(es)
(10) Consider need for underwater search
(11) order search when ready and have emergency party ready to react to fire and/or flood
(12) On commencement of search, monitor progress reports
(13) On arrival for EOD team, give a complete SITREP
(14) Upon finding a bomb or suspicious device, inform the EOD team, CO and XO
(15) Send a local EOD team to investigate
(16) Prepare to have the bomb removed
(17) draft SIR and take statements

What do you do if you receive a bomb threat?

A

All telephone users receiving a bomb threat must remain calm and attempt to obtain as much information as possible. If a bomb threat is received in writing, all materials must be saved, including any envelope or container. Once the message is recognized as a bomb threat, further unnecessary handling should be avoided. Every possible effort must be made to retain evidence such as fingerprints, handwriting or typewriting, paper and postal marks which are essential to tracing the threat and identifying the writer
