Skin- 3 layers, Hair, Nails, Glands
What is the function of the Integumentary system?
Protection, waste excretion, Vitamin D synthesis & temperature regulation.
What does the Skeletal system consist of?
Bones, Cartilage, Ligaments.
What is the function of the Skeletal system?
Support, structure & protection. Facilitates movement, stored calcium and other essential minerals.
What does the Muscular system consist of?
Skeletal muscle (voluntary) Smooth muscle (involuntary) Cardiac muscle.
What is the function of the Muscular system?
Allows mobility of the body, cardiac muscle pumps blood through the body, muscles aid with swallowing and digesting.
What does the Nervous system consist of?
Brain, nerve, neuron, spinal cord.
What is the function of the Nervous system?
Control and coordinate of bodily function, regulation of complex processes such as thinking & learning. Control of automatic function.
What does the Endocrine system consist of?
Endocrine glands, organs, endocrine-related tissue.
What is the function of the Endocrine system?
Releases hormones which control bodily function, helps maintain homeostasis.
What does the Cardiovascular system consist of?
The heart, system of blood vessels.
What is the function of the Cardiovascular system?
Deliver oxygenated blood throughout the body.
What does the Lymphatic system consist of?
Lymph vessels, lymph nodes, lymphoid organs (spleen, tonsils) lymphatic tissue.
What is the function of the Lymphatic system?
Drains excess fluid from bodily tissue, filters foreign bodies, destroys old or abnormal cells
What does the Respiratory system consist of?
Lungs, airways, diaphragm, larynx, pharynx.
