BLT/FPR/Stills OSCE Flashcards
For BLT, what position should the patient be placed in
The ease of motion (to the SD) as well as slight flexion to align the spine
For BLT Upper Thoracics, where should the hand be placed
Ipsilateral to PTP, index finger on the TP of the dysfunctional segment
Contralateral to PTP, on the patient’s head
For BLT Lower Thoracic, where should the hands be placed
Ipsilateral thumb contacts the Tp of the inferior vertebra
Contralateral thumb contacts the TP of the superior segment vertebra
What is the goal of FPR
To reduce abnormal muscle hypertonicity and restore lost motion to a restricted articulation
What is the hand position for upper thoracic FPR
One monitoring the segment, the other on top of the head
What is the hand position for lower thoracic FPR
Monitor segment with one hand, the other rests on the posterior aspect of the patient’s neck
What is the position for lumbar flexed type 2 FPR
Patient prone with pillows under the abdomen
Flex the leg on the ipsilateral side of the dysfunctional ptp
Apply compressive force through the femur
Internally rotate and adduct the lower extremity by moving the knee medially
What is the position for Lumbar extended type 2 FPR
Patient prone with pillow under the abdomen
Doc at side contralateral to the PTP
Add 1lbs of compression through your finger resting on the TP contralateral to the PTP you are monitoring
Abduct the leg ipsilateral to the PTP until motion is felt at the monitoring hand, also induce internal rotation fo the hip and extend the leg
