Bloodsupply of the HEAD Flashcards
A. CAROTIS EXTERNA
Before its branches, and Continues as?
Starts from Sinus Caroticus where - Carotis externa and Carotis interna devides from A. Carotis communis. A.CAROTIS EXTERNA - EX: A. Carotis communis - EX: A.BRACHIOCEPHALLICA - EX: ARCUS AORTAE
Continues as: A. MAXILARIS
A. CAROTIS EXTERNA
Main branches?
- Linguofacial trunk
(in CA: LINGUAL A and FACIAL A)
■ Ascending palatine artery ■ Lingual artery ■ Sublingual artery ■ Facial artery ● A. Labialis inferior ● A. Labialis superior ● A. Lateralis nasi ● A. Dorsalis nasi ● A. Angularis oculi
2 ○ Superficial temporal artery
■ A. Transversa faciei
■ A. Auricularis rostralis
3 ○ Caudal auricular artery
Common carotid arteries
○ Ascend the neck to each side of the trachea accompanied by the
vagosympathetic trunk and caudal laryngeal nerve.
○ Caudal thyroid artery
○ Cranial thyroid artery
■ Cranial laryngeal artery
■ Ascending pharyngeal artery
○ Common carotid then divides into
1: External (head without brain) and
2: Internal carotid (brain),
- and the occipital artery
○ Carotid body ( GLOMUS CAROTICUM ) can be found close to this division, a chemoreceptors which responds to changes in blood pressure
