Blood Vessels Flashcards
what is the coronary circulation?
it is when blood moves through the tissues of heart
what is the function of the veins?
to carry deoxygenated blood to the heart and carry carbon dioxide
what is the function of the arteries?
to carry oxygenated blood to the rest or your body
what is pulse?
is the heart beat which beating 60 to 100 times per minutes
what the electrical impulse?
it helps the heart to beat rhythmically.
why is the cardiac muscle strong and tough?
to withstand the pressure of the heart pumping of blood
what is the function of the circulatory system?
is to provide oxygen and nutrients to the cells of your body
what consists of the circulatory system?
heart, aorta, pulmonary artery, vena cava, pulmonary vein, bicuspid and tricuspid valve, semi lunar vales and blood vessels
what are the three main types of blood vessels?
veins, capillaries and artery
difference between veins, capillaries and artery?
veins; carry deoxygenated blood (blue in colour), have thins walls, closer to the bodies surface, carry blood to the heart and have vales to prevent the blood running backwards
artery; have thick wall to with stand the pressures of the blood pumping,
carry oxygenated blood (red in colour), away from the heart, and are further away from the bodies surface
capillaries; are very small, they are have thin walls and carry oxygen and nutrients. They join the arteries and veins
what is blood vessels?
is a system where blood moves around the body
