A person can have one of four blood types, A, B, AB, O. Letters refer to 2 carbohydrates foubd on surface of red blood cells

Genotypes for boood types
Type o- ii (recessive)

Blood transfusions
Must match recipients blood type with a compatible donor blood type. The immune system wil detect cells that appear foreign to the body. Antibodies bind to foreign carbs causing the donor red blood cells to clump
About blood group A
You have A antigens on surface of blood red cells, and B antibodies in your blood. Receives A and O type blood, can give blood to a and ab
About blood group b
You have b antigens on surface of red blood cells, and A antibodies in your blood, receives B and O, gives blood to B and AB
Blood group AB
You have both A and B antigens on your surface of red blood cells. No anti a or anti b antibodies in your blood. Receive blood from AB, A, B, o. Give blood to AB
Blood group o
Have neither A nor b antigens on surface of red blood cells, but have both a and b antibodies in your blood. Received from no one, gives to everyone
