Blood Supply Flashcards
What are the anterior arteries of the internal carotid?
Ophthalamic and Anterior choroidal ( to the deep hemisphere)
What does the middle cerebral artery supply?
The lateral frontal, parietal and temporal lobes, the basal ganglia and most of the deep white matter (internal capsule)
What does the anterior cerebral artery supply?
The medial frontal and the parietal lobes
What does the posterior cerebral artery supply?
The medial temporal and occipital lobes and the thalamus
The posterior limb of the internal capsule (and the lateral thalamus) can be supplied by what?
The MCA, PCA, or anterior chorodial
What will be affected in left middle cerebral artery syndrome that won’t be affected in right?
Broca’s area, Wiernke’s area
What will be affected in right middle cerebral artery syndrome that won’t be affected in left?
Association cortex –> hemineglect and anosognosia
What are lacunes?
small subcortical cerebral arteries that can hemorrhage and affect the internal capsule (subcortical weakness) and thalamus (subcortical somatosensory loss)
What supplies the anterior cerebellum?
SCA
What supplies the middle cerebellum?
AICA
What supplies the posterior cerebellum?
PICA
