Q

How is blood pressure normally controlled in health?

A

Short term:

The baroreceptors in the carotid artery sense changes in blood pressure.
If the BP Drops, the sympathetic nervous system increases pulse rate and vasoconstriction increases BP.
If BP increases, the Parasympathetic nervous system decreases pulse rates, and vasodilate takes place to decrease BP
