What are the common symptoms of multiple myeloma?
A
C - calcium high
R - renal failure
A - anemia (normocytic and normochromic)
B - bony lesions and pain(70%)

What are the investigations in multiple myeloma?
A
- Serum monoclonal protiens (serum electrophoresis), and urine bence jones protiens.
- Increased plasma cells in bone marrow
- Whole body MRI or skeletal survey.

How do you diagnose multiple myeloma?
A
One major and one minor or 3 minor.
Major
Plamsacytoma
30% plasma cells in bone marrow sample
Elevated levels of m protein in blood or urine
Minor 10-30% cells in bone marrow sample Minor elevated of m protein. Osteolyic lesions on bone studies Low levels of antibiobodies in blood

What is waldenstrom macroglobulinemia ?
A
Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma.
Has high levels of IgM paraprotein. Hepatosplenomegaly Hypercoagulation Lymphadenopathy Older men
