What is the objective of the Egress System Checkout Certification Program?
To thoroughly familiarize personnel working in and around the cockpit with ejection seats and the special hazards associated with those system.
Should qualified personnel be routinely monitored?
Yes
How often is a new system checkout required?
6 months or after more than 90 days TAD.
Define hypoxia.
A decrease in the amount of oxygen per unit volume of air and results in an insufficient amount of oxygen entering the bloodstream causing the eyes, body and muscles to fail unless the individual breathes additional oxygen.
Define anoxia.
Is death due to complete lack of oxygen.
What needs to be checked prior to entering the cockpit area?
Ejection seat safety pins are installed and handle is in the safe position. Also ensure the canopy jettison safety pin is installed.
Should the canopy be left in an intermediate position?
No.
Should you open or close the canopy while aircraft is in motion?
No
When do you not use battery power to open the canopy?
When the temperature is below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
What should you be aware of prior to opening and or closing the canopy?
You want to ensure canopy sills and canopy deck areas are clear of personnel and foreign objects before operation.
What does ABO stand for?
Aviators Breathing Oxygen
How many types of ABO’s are used in the NAVY?
Two
What is type one ABO?
Gaseous Oxygen MIL-0-272710D.
What is type two ABO?
Liquid Oxygen
How much pure oxygen exists in liquid oxygen?
99.5%
