Block 4 Occupational and personal safety Flashcards
What is ORM?
Operational Risk Management is a systematic, decision making process used to identify and manage hazards.
What are the 5 steps of the ORM process?
(IAMIS) Identify Hazards Assess Hazards Make risk decisions Implement controls Supervise
What are the 4 principles of ORM?
Accept risk when benefit outweighs the cost
Accept no unnecessary risk
Anticipate and manage risk by planning
Make risk decisions at the right level
What are the 3 levels of ORM?
In depth
Deliberate
Time Critical
Describe In Depth
Is used before a project is implemented, when there is plenty of time to plan and prepare
Describe Deliberate
Is used at routine periods throughout the implementation of a project or process
Describe Time Critical
Used during operational exercises or execution of task when time and resources are limited.
Describe Class A mishap
Property damage is 2 million or more; or an injury or occupational illness results in a fatality or permanent total disability
Describe Class B mishap
Property damage is 500K or more but less than 2 million: or injury or occupational illness results in permanent partial disability or 3 or more personnel are hospitalized.
Describe Class C mishap
Property damage 50K or more but less 500K: or non fatal injury that causes loss of time beyond the day or shift on which it occurred.
What are the 5 Aviation mishaps
- Human Error
- Maintenance and support factors
- Administrative and supervisory factors
- Material failures
- Environmental factors
When is a Hazrep intended to be submitted?
When an elimination and control of a given hazard has wide implication in reducing mishaps
