What do you find on examination of the placenta?
Membranes- 2 chorion and amnion Cord- 3 in total 2 umbilical arteries and one umbilical vein Estimation of blood loss Records and record keeping Looking for infarcts or calcification Succenturiate lobe Velamentous cord insertion Umbilical knots
When should the third stage of labour be completed by?
In active third stage- 30 mins
In physiological- 1hr
