- Original / traditional BIOS been around 25yrs
- Older OS talked to hardware through BIOS instead of doing it directly
- Limited hardware support

UNIFIED EXTENSIBLE FIRMWARE INTERFACE

- Based on Intel’s “EFI” (Extensible Firmware Interface)
- A defined standard (Implemented by Manufactures)
- Designed to replace Legacy BIOS
