what is conduct disorder?
usually occurs in teens and children its a serious behavioural disorder and emotional disorder that displays a pattern of disruptive or violent behaviour and may have a problem with following rules.
what is oppositional disorder (ODD)
ODD is a disorder where a child displays continuous irritable or angry moods as well as argumentative behaviour.
what is the aim of drug treatments?
to re-balance hormones back to normal levels.
what can high levels of dopamine cause which may lead to criminal behaviour?
found to increase aggression and amongst children may cause conduct disorder. it does this as increased dopamine activates the reward system when someone is behaving aggressive - causing them to feel a sense of pleasure and making them repeat the behaviour.
give an example of a drug which acts as a chemical castration?
Medroxyprogesterone (MPA)
what is Medroxyprogesterone ?
female hormone that works to decrease the amount of testosterone by acting as an anti-androgen and inhibiting the lutenizing hormone stopping the production of testosterone.
what are SSRI’S?
selective serotonin re uptake inhibitors - increase serotonin levels, serotonin controls mood balance, a lack of serotonin seems to increase aggression.
