Species
Group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of exchanging genes or interbreeding.
Population
A group of individuals of the same species which occupy a particular habitat.
Ecosystem
Natural unit which consists of defined area and all the communities within it. Consists of both abiotic and biotic components.
Habitat
Organisms place of residence, this is where it lives, such as at the bottom of a lake.
Community
A collection of different populations which occur together in the same space and time.
Environment
Set of conditions that encompasses their abiotic and biotic environments.
Biodiversity
Variety of living organism present in an area.
Habitat biodiversity
Number of different habitats found within an area
Genetic biodiversity
Total number of genetic characteristics in the genetic makeup of a species
Allele
Different variations of the same gene
