What is the role of seratonin?
Keep our mood stable and has a calming effect
What will a lack of seratonin do to someone’s mood?
Make them likely to feel angry as they don’t have the calming chemical
What sort or behaviour is argued that low levels of seratonin causes?
Aggressive and impulsive behaviour, which could lead to crime being committed
What did Scerbo and Raine (1993) find?
Carried out 29 studies of antisocial adults and children, in all 29 they found low levels of seratonin was linked to anti-social behaviour
How can sex hormones be linked to crime?
Testosterone can be linked to aggression, which could lead to violent crimes being committed of a physical or sexual nature
What did Dabbs (1995) conclude?
Took saliva samples of 692 male prison inmates to measure testosterone levels, people with highest levels committed violent crimes and low levels committed non-violent crimes
What do steroids increase and what can this cause?
Muscle growth and testosterone, which can cause people to become violent or aggressive known as roid rage
What did Horace Williams do?
Beat a man to death after taking 2000 times the recommended dose of steroids
