Nerves and ganglia, outside of the brain and spinal cord

Connect the CNS to limbs and organs

Regulate activities under unconscious control

Regulate activities under conscious control
What is the role of the sympathetic
Responds to danger - increases heartbeat and blood pressure

What is the role of the Entric?
The digestive system - works independently
Describe the three grades of a concussion: mild, moderate and severe
Mild - No loss of consciousness and amnesia < 30 min
Moderate - Loss of consciousness is less than 5 minutes and amnesia lasts over 30 min
Severe - loss of consciousness for more than 5 minutes and amnesia lasts more than 24 minutes
List three common causes of concussions
- Sports
- Vehicle accidents
- Falling
List 5 symptoms of a concussion
- amnesia
- loss of consciousness
-nausea
-memory loss - slurred speech
Describe 1. external barriers 2. Inflammatory response and 3. Immune response
- Skin
- Swelling, cuts, white blood cells
- T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes
What substances trigger an immune response?
Antigens
What is a lymph node? Why are they good?
A small mass of tissue that contains lymphocytes
