Bio Lab 9 - Coelomates Flashcards
1
Q
Coelom
A
internal cavity, not gastrovascular
2
Q
Triploblastic
A
3 Layers:
- Endoderm
- Ectoderm
- Mesoderm
3
Q
Coelomate Types
A
Acelomate: no coelom
Psuedocoelomate: cavity between endo and mesoderm
Coelomate: cavity within mesoderm
4
Q
Phylum Platyhelminthes
A
Flatworms Acelomates Blind gastrocavity No central circulation system Diffusion limited so must be small Swim Eyespot
5
Q
Neodermata
A
of Phylum Platyhelminthes
Parasitic sheep liver flukes
6
Q
Neodermata Life Cycle
A
- Adult lives in sheep - sexual reproduction
- Eggs are pooped out
- Miracidium larvae swim in mud
- Sporocyst rows into redia then cercaria in snails
- Cercaria swim out of snail
- Metacercarae crawl to grass to get eaten
7
Q
Tapeworm
A
Class Ceromeromorpha, Phylum Platyhelminthes
- suckers attach to the wall
- segments (proglotilids) grow out of the scolex
- Each segment produces eggs
- segments break off and regrow into new adults
8
Q
Phylum Nematoda
A
Round worms
Psuedocoelomates
3 Genuses
9
Q
Phylum Annelida
A
Earthworms, leeches
Coelomates
2 classes
10
Q
Class of Annelida
A
- Polychaeta: mostly marine, 2 parapodia (feet) per segment
- Clitellata:
- earthworms and leeches
- clitellum: band that wraps around during mating, then catches eggs, slides off and becomes a cocoon
- hermaphrodites that play both roles when mating
11
Q
Dissections from this lab
A
- Dugesia, also called planaria
- Class Turbellaria, Phylum Platyhelminthes - Ascaris
- Class Clitella, Phylum Nematoda
12
Q
Dugesia Important Parts
A
eyespot gastrovascular cavity: opposite end of eyespots pharynx: big hole in the middle ectoderm endoderm
13
Q
Tapeworm slide
A
See picture Know: -scolex (round dots on one end) -neck ( between scolex and segments) -proglottids (segments)
14
Q

Phylum Nematoda
clear until you add sand
15
Q

A
Phylum Nematoda, Class Clitella Intestinal Roundworm Know: -mouth -pharynx -intestines: long to digest plant matter -anus -pseudocoel -seminal vesicles or receptacles
