Test for difference
2
Q
Calculation steps
A
- Compare the outcomes in condition a and condition b for each participant.
- Count how many positive changes there have been and how many negative. No changes are ignored.
- The smallest number is the calculated value of S.
3
Q
Critical value
A
Check critical value table based on 1-tailed/2-tailed hypothesis, significance level and N (don’t count 0 differences as part of N)
4
Q
Significance statement
A
If the calculated S value is less than or equal to the critical S value the result is significant = reject Null Hypothesis.
If the calculated S value is greater than the critical S value the result is not significant = accept Null Hypothesis.
