Driver Bid:
senior certified bidder, then senior bidder
o Certification preference on fire apparatus is limited to basic Driver Operator Certification
o Specialty trucks will be certified on during the bid period
Paramedic Bid:
Minimum requirement is State of Florida Paramedic Certification to bid Paramedic positions
o Senior protocol certified, then Florida paramedic (protocol test during bid period)
Airport Bids:
senior bidder who has qualified by successfully completing the department aircraft rescue and firefighting exam which is offered twice annually
o If no bidder is qualified, the bid will remain vacant
o Personnel assigned to the airport division will have the bid period to obtain airport certification
Air truck Bids:
Senior certified, then senior bidder with the bid period to get certified
Flight medic Bids:
senior certified bidder only
Hazmat Bids (NEW)
senior bidder who has qualified by possessing as a minimum, state of Florida 160 hours hazardous material certification
o The successful bidder will have the bid period to obtain department certification as hazmat tech
o If there is no qualified bidder, the position will remain vacant
Fireboat, Venom, Marine Firefighter
senior certified or the bid remains vacant
Technical Rescue Bids (NEW):
bids will be awarded to the senior bidder who has qualified by possessing as a minimum, the following state of Florida approved technician level certifications:
o Structural collapse, trench rescue, vehicle and machinery rescue, rope rescue, and confined space rescue.
o The successful bidder will have the bid period to obtain department certification as a technical rescue technician.
o In the event there is no qualified bidder, the position will remain vacant.
Requirements for TRT Bid:
Structural collapse, trench rescue, vehicle and machinery rescue, rope rescue, confined space rescue
CR firefighter
senior certified, then senior bidder. If no bidder has certification/qualification, the bid will remain vacant.
In order to count toward bid requirements for preference, qualification/certifications must be obtained __________
prior to the BID announcement
Where department requirements provide for an evaluation of applicant’s qualifications, evaluation of job performance, written test, and demonstrated ability to perform the position sought, qualification will be relevant to the position bid. A written description of those qualifications will be provided to local 1403
