अर्जुन उवाच ।
कथं न ज्ञेयमस्माभिः पापादस्मान्निवर्तितुम् |
कुलक्षयकृतं दोषं प्रपश्यद्भिर्जनार्दन ||
1.39 Why should we not learn to recoil from such a sin, O Janārdana, we who see evil in the destruction of family?
श्रीभगवान् उवाच ।
एवं बुद्धेः परं बुद्ध्वा संस्तभ्यात्मानमात्मना |
जहि शत्रुं महाबाहो कामरूपं दुरासदम् ||
3.43 Thus knowing That as superior to the intellect, restraining the self by the Self, slay, O mighty-armed, the enemy in the form of desire, difficult to overcome.
न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते |
तत्स्वयं योगसंसिद्धः कालेनात्मनि विन्दति ||
4.38 Verily there is no purifier in this world like knowledge. One who is perfected in yoga realises it in their own heart in due time.
न प्रहृष्येत्प्रियं प्राप्य नोद्विजेत्प्राप्य चाप्रियम् |
स्थिरबुद्धिरसम्मूढो ब्रह्मविद् ब्रह्मणि स्थितः ||
5.20 Established in Brahman, with firm understanding and with no delusion, the knower of Brahman rejoices not, getting what is pleasant and grieves not, getting what is unpleasant.
लभन्ते ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमृषयः क्षीणकल्मषाः |
छिन्नद्वैधा यतात्मानः सर्वभूतहिते रताः ||
5.25 With sins destroyed, doubts removed, minds disciplined, being delighted in the welfare of all beings, the sages attain the beatitude of Brahman.
सर्वभूतस्थमात्मानं सर्वभूतानि चात्मनि |
ईक्षते योगयुक्तात्मा सर्वत्र समदर्शनः ||
6.29 With mind harmonised by yoga, one sees oneself in all beings and all beings in oneself; one sees the same in all.
यो मां पश्यति सर्वत्र सर्वं च मयि पश्यति |
तस्याहं न प्रणश्यामि स च मे न प्रणश्यति ||
6.30 The one who sees Me everywhere and sees all things in Me, never becomes lost to Me, nor do I become lost to them.
अव्यक्ताद्व्यक्तयः सर्वाः प्रभवन्त्यहरागमे |
रात्र्यागमे प्रलीयन्ते तत्रैवाव्यक्तसंञ्ज्ञके ||
At the coming of day all manifest beings proceed from the unmanifested, and at the coming of night they merge again in the same place which is called the unmanifested.
पुरुषः स परः पार्थ भक्त्या लभ्यस्त्वनन्यया |
यस्यान्तःस्थानि भूतानि येन सर्वमिदं ततम् ||
8.22
That supreme Spirit, O Arjuna, is attainable by unswerving devotion to That alone within whom all beings dwell, by whom all this is pervaded.
आहिंसा समता तुष्टिस्तपो दानं यशोऽयशः। भवन्ति भावा भूतानां मत्त एव पृथग्विधाः॥
10.5 Non-injury, equanimity, contentment, austerity, charity, fame and ill-fame — these different qualities of beings arise from Me alone.
तेषामेवानुकम्पार्थमहमज्ञानजं तमः। नाशयाम्यात्मभावस्थो ज्ञानदीपेन भास्वता॥
10.11 Out of compassion for them, dwelling in their hearts, I destroy the ignorance-born darkness by the luminous lamp of wisdom.
अक्षराणामकारोऽस्मि द्वंद्वः सामासिकस्य च। अहमेवाक्षयः कालो धाताऽहं विश्वतोमुखः॥
10.33 Of letters, I am the letter A, and of word-compounds I am the dual (Dvandva.). I am verily the inexhaustible Time. I am the Dispenser facing everywhere.
श्रेयो हि ज्ञानमभ्यासाज्ज्ञानाद्ध्यानं विशिष्यते। ध्यानात्कर्मफलत्यागस्त्यागाच्छान्तिरनन्तरम्॥
12.12 Better indeed is knowledge than empty practice; better than knowledge is meditation; better than meditation is the renunciation of the results of action; peace immediately follows renunciation.
सर्वतः पाणिपादं तत्सर्वतोऽक्षिशिरोमुखम्। सर्वतः श्रुतिमल्लोके सर्वमावृत्य तिष्ठति॥

With hands and feet everywhere, with eyes and hands and mouths everywhere, with ears everywhere — It exists enveloping all.
ज्योतिषामपि तज्ज्योतिस्तमसः परमुच्यते। ज्ञानं ज्ञेयं ज्ञानगम्यं हृदि सर्वस्य विष्ठितम्॥
13.17 The light of all lights, It is said to be beyond darkness; knowledge, the knowable, the goal of knowledge, seated in the hearts of all.
उपद्रष्टानुमन्ता च भर्ता भोक्ता महेश्वरः। परमात्मेति चाप्युक्तो देहेऽस्मिन्पुरुषः परः॥
13.22 The Supeme Spirit in this body is called the Spectator, the One who permits, the Supporter, the One who experiences, the Great Lord and the Supreme Self.
अनुद्वेगकरं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत्। स्वाध्यायाभ्यसनं चैव वाङ्मयं तप उच्यते॥
17.15 The speech which causes no excitement, which is truthful, pleasant and beneficial, and is also the practice of sacred recitation — these are said to form the austerity of speech.
मनःप्रसादः सौम्यत्वं मौनमात्मविनिग्रहः। भावसंशुद्धिरित्येतत्तपो मानसमुच्यते॥
17.16 Serenity of mind, gentleness, silence, self-control and purity of disposition — this is called the mental austerity.
श्रेयान्स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात्। स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः॥
18.47 Better is one’s own duty, though imperfect, than the duty of another well performed. One who doe sthe duty ordained by his own nature incurs no sin.
धृतराष्ट्र उवाच ।
ततः श्वेतैर्हयैर्युक्ते महति स्यन्दने स्थितौ। माधवः पाण्डवश्चैव दिव्यौ शङ्खौ प्रदध्मतुः॥
1.14 Dhṛtarāṣṭra spoke: Then, seated as the Mādhava and Pāṇḍava were in their magnificent chariot yoked to white steed, they gracefully blew their divine conches.
