BEMB Linear Kinematics Flashcards
3 ways kinematics can be defined as?
- The pattern or sequencing of movement with respect to time.
- The appearance of a motion
- Visually observable aspects of techniques or form.
What is linear displacement
the distance from initial to final location
vector equivalent to linear distance
Path of distance travelled vs displacement (skater graph)
The distance a skater travels may be measured from the track left on the ice. The skater’s displacement is measured
in a straight line from start to finish.
What is running speed the product of?
Stride length and stride frequency
Linear velocity VS Linear speed
Velocity = displacement / time
Speed = distance / time
Velocity is vector
speed is linear
What is acceleration?
Rate of change in linear velocity
a = v2 - v1 / t
Will the ball be at the same position when rising and falling?
Yes they will be similar as the velocity of a projectile is symmetrical about the apex.
What factors influence the trajectory of a projectile?
Projection angle - the direction of projection with respect to the horizontal
projection speed - The magnitude of projection velocity.
Relative projection height- the difference between projection and landing height.
What are the 2 factors that affect flight time
Initial vertical velocity
Relative projection height
What are the 2 things that affect horizontal displacement
Horizontal velocity
relative projection height
What are the 2 things that affect vertical displacement?
Initial vertical velocity
Relative projection height
What are the 3 things that affect trajectory?
Initial speed
Projection angle
Relative projection height
