BEMB kinetics concept Flashcards
Formula for force, weight, pressure, density
Force = Mass X Area
Weight= Mass X g(9.81)
Pressure= Force/ Area
Density= Mass / Volume
What is inertia?
Tendency to resist change in state of motion.
Proportional to mass
Has no units
What is centre of gravity?
The point where the body’s weight is equally balanced in all directions.
A point that serves as an index of total body motion.
What is torque?
The product of the force and the perpendicular distance from the force line of action to axis of rotation.
What is impulse?
Force X time
What is compression?
Pressing or squeezing
What is tensional?
Pulling or stretching
What is shear force?
Force directed parallel to the surface
What is stress?
Force / area
What can lead to bending?
Compression and tension forces.
For deformation, which part is Elastic region, yield point, ultimate failure point and plastic region
Refer to graph
What is the effects of repetitive and acute loading?
Repetitive: Repeated application of a subacute load that is relatively of a low magnitude.
Acute: Application of a single force of sufficient magnitude to cause damage to biological tissue
Function of EMG (Electromyography)
and
Dynamography
EMG: To study neuromuscular function
Dynamography: To measure ground reaction forces. Uses force and pressure platforms to measure that.
