Behaviour Sampling In Observation Flashcards
Event sampling AO1
-observer decides on specific event relevant to investigation
- relevant events recorder every time happen within a set period of time
-e.g observing aggression at football match recording a tally every single time they se an aggression act occur within full time period 90 mints
Event sampling AO3 strength
P- useful when b happens infrequently as ppt watched over a period of time
E- nd behaviour is recorded every time it occurs
E-researchers are less likely to miss b
L-unlike time sampling it may be missed
Event sampling limitation AO3
P- if b observed is complex/ happens very often May be missed
E- cannot tally in time
E- unlike time sampling
L- where researcher only tallies at set time interval nd therefore less likely to miss b
Time sampling AO1
Tallying b on a set time interval e.g on/ at every two mint
Time sampling AO3 strength
P- reduces the amount of time the observer have to observe b for
E- as only observe in set time interval
E- however as researcher only observe at set time intervals b tallied may not be representative of the observation as a whole
