Q

The Process of Reciprocal Inhibition

A

Client (while relaxed) imagines a hierarchy of stressful situations – if anxiety is felt then they start again. Eventually after a few sessions the client can tolerate the situations, and treatment ends when the client is desensitised.

Q

Advantages of tokens

A
  • Don’t lose reinforcing value as quickly (e.g., a child may get sick of lollies)
  • If token given immediately, the child may stay involved in the activity because they can exchange their tokens for a number of things like food
