a situation in which a patient’s presenting problem is some disorder of mood, thought, or behavior that interferes with his or her activities of daily living.

when the abnormal behavior threatens an individual’s health and safety or the health and safety of another.

results from an abnormal reaction to a stressful/traumatic event or abnormal development influences

result from the patient’s actions and interactions within society, or may result from events that causes a profound psychological change
