Behavior Reduction Flashcards
What are the essential components of behavior reduction plan (BIP)
is a document that describes the procedures you use to help the learner decreasse their challenging behavior.
- an operational definition of target behavior
- antecedent modification
- replacement behavior
- consequence modification
- emrgency measures
- common functions of behavior
Common Function of Behavior
1- attention
2- tangible
3- escape
4- automatic reinforcement
Antecedent Modification
antecedent modification are important because they can help you avoid challenging behavior, rather than reacting to it.
Noncontingent Reinforcement (NCR)
In this procedure, the reinforcement is given to the learner for free ie. not contingent on any behavior
Demand Fading
Demand Fading is a procedure where you initially decrease the amount of work you ask the learner to do.
Task Modification
By changing some aspect of the task in a way to make the task more preferred by the learner you decrease the learners motivation to escape from it.
High-Probability, Low Probability sequence
also commonly referred to as behavior momentum procedure involves asking the learner to do several task that she is likely to comply with (high P task) before asking her to do one task that she is not likely to comply with ( low P task)
Choice
Frequently incorporating choice when working with a learner with ASD is likely to help decrease her motivation to engage in challenging behavior
Differential Reinforcement Procedures (DRA)
When you choose to reinforcer some behavior and not other, this is called differential reinforcement.
Functional Communication Training (FCT)
FCT is a specific type of DRA, where you teach the learner to ask for what he wants, rather than using challenging
Differential Reinforcement of Low- Rate Behavior
Some challenging behavior is only a problem because they because they occur at too high a rate. but we don’t want to eliminate them completely.
Differential Behavior of other behavior (DRO)
(DRO is when you only give reinforcement when the challenging behavior does not occur for a specific amount of time.
Extinction
extinction is the basic principle that states that behavior that is maintained by reinforcement will decrease when that reinforcement is discontinued.
