2
Q

A good operational definition should be:

A

objective: observable aspects of behavior (hitting) not unobservable internal states (frustration)
clean: a person who has never seen the behavior can “act it out” from the definition.
complete: includes all the information necessary for you to discriminate between the behavior and the other behavior that similar but do not count.

Q

single stimulus

A

present one item at a time to the learner and record whether he interacted with it or makes no response to it.

Q

paired stimuli

A

present a pair of possible reinforcers then, allow the learner to only choose one and record the percentage that item was chosen.

Q

multiple stimuli without replacement

A

(WSWO) after the learner chooses an item, that item is not placed in the array of items when presenting the next trial.

Q

The function of problem behavior

A

The function of a behavior is the reason people behave in a certain way.

-getting something

Q

FBA and intervention

A

when the function of a problem behavior has been identified, intervention can consist of

alterning antecedent variable

alterning consequence variable

teaching alternative behavior

16
Q

PURPOSE OF CONDUCTING AN FBA

A

To determine the purpose and intent of the client’s problematic behavior.
Once you know the “why”, you can figure out the best way to decrease the behavior.

17
Q

4 PRIMARY REASONS/FUNCTIONS OF BEHAVIOR

A
  1. Attention
  2. Escape/Avoidance
  3. Access to Tangibles
  4. Automatic/Sensory
18
Q

3 TERM CONTINGENCY

A

Foundation aspect of ABA and are always occurring. It known as the A-B-C’s.:

  1. Antecedent (A)
  2. Behavior (B)
  3. Consequence (C)

When A happens, I do B and when I do B, C happens

19
Q

Direct observation means that

A

a trained observer directly witnesses behavior and immediately records that it occurred
