Nail Care

Manicuring
-comes from the Latin words fes meaning “foot” and cura meaning “care”; the care of feet and toenails

-a beauty care service where curative minerals are present for beautification
Spa
-a beauty care service using natural oils, vitamins and minerals, having curative effect on the body
Hand spa
-a beauty care service offered by salons to relax and moisturize the feet
Foot spa
-the pearly colored and crescent-shaped area of a fingernail or toenail
Lunula
-the part of the nail where the nail plate rests on, also a continuation of the matrix and it is abundantly supplied with blood vessels and nerves
Nail bed
-contains nerves together with lymph and blood vessels that produce the nail cells and control the rate of growth of the nails. Located under the nail root, it is very sensitive part of the nail and if injured will produce nails with irregular growth and disorders
Matrix
-the overlapping epidermis around the nail. It is the transparent skin, which is called the ‘true cuticle’ which is removed during the manicuring process
Cuticle
-is the visible nail that rests on the nail bed up to the free edge. This is made up of dead cells and a minimum amount of moisture
