Area between foreshore and coastline and is only affected by waves on exceptional high tides or severe storms

the furthest most area of the coast from the coastline which leads on into the sea.
Raised Beach
a former beach which now sits above the high water mark.
Runnel
Small ridges formed on low gradient beaches by streams of water as they flow back into the sea following high tide.
