Battle of Agincourt (1415) Flashcards
1
Q
What were three reasons for the outcome?
A
- King Henry V decided to place army in battlefield in which his flanks were protected by woodlands on either side, meaning he could focus his army forward and not be vulnerable from sides.
- Placed down pikes in the ground in front of infantry, protecting against cavalry charges, allowing him to place longbowmen on frontlines while being safe
-Henry ordered longbowmen to shoot volleys at French armies, forcing French army to retreat or attack into a bad position. Attacked through boggy land, horses shot out from underneath + heavy plate armour caused knights to drown
