Basic Principles Of Behavior Flashcards
Operant conditioning
Who are the major players.
BF skinner - described the science of operant conditioning.
Edward Thorndike - law of effect
Law of effect
Thorndike
Responses that produce rewards will increase in frequency.
- treat training.
Operant conditioning
Manipulating antecedents
And consequences
Main principles?
Reinforcement
Punishment
Extinction
Stimulus control.
Operant conditioning
What is it?
Learning process in which behaviour is controlled by its consequences.
The science of behaviour that explains the functional relationship between the environment and behaviour.
Differential reinforcement
Doing two things at once
Combining extinction with positive reinforcement
- decreases the unwanted behaviour while increasing desired behaviour.
Antecedent control
And steps
Controlling the environment so a problem behaviour will not occur
- remove cue for misbehaviour- issue causing misbehaviour. Eg garbage can
- add cue for good behaviour
- add an establishing operations for good behaviour. Eg deprivation + food reward
- remove an establishing operation for misbehaviour.
- decrease response effort for good behaviour - make it easy for him to behave
- ## increase the response effort for problem behaviour. Make it harder for him to misbehave.
