A

Assess the status of the airway:

  • Head tilt/ chin life
  • Look into the airway, clear any obvious obstructions for chest rise and fall,
  • Feel for air on your cheek

Commence CPR.
Describe ratio of breaths/ compressions.
Describe location and rate of chest compressions. Describe how to deliver breaths.

A

Deliver 30 compressions for every 2 breaths.
Compress the chest on the lower 2/3rds of the sternum, for 1/3 depth of the chest.
Aim for a rate of 100 - 120 compressions per minute.

Deliver breaths via mouth-to-mouth resuscitation by pinching the nose/ tilting the head and lifting the chin

Deliver breaths via Bag-Valve-Mask by applying jaw thrust.
