4 things that are said to happen during baptism:
Person is acknowledged as a follower of Jesus
Receives God’s grace. Grace means forgiveness, free gift of God’s love
They begin a new life with Jesus
Personal sins forgiven (original sin)
Why is Infant Baptism Good?
Removes original sin and purifies the child
The gift of the Holy Spirit helps the child grow up strong
Brings comfort to the family if their child dies it will be with grace
Identifies the child as a Christian so they grow up around the community
Why is Believer’s Baptism Good?
Jesus was an adult when he was baptised
How can a child have sin to remove?
Children may grow to resent the promises made for them and wish to do it themselves
More effective if a conscious mind makes the promises from their hearts
