bandura Flashcards
what was banduras first study
1961- transmission of agression from a same sex role modle
what was the second banduras study
1963- imitation of an agressive same sex role model from a film / cartoon
what was the third bandura study
1965-influence of models reinforcemnt making desired response
what was the aim of banduras first study
to investigate if young children will observe and imitate a same sex role model
what are the findings of banduras first study
boys tended to be more physicaly agressive compared to girls
agressive condition showed more significant imitation than the non agressive condition
what did banduras first study conclude
that children will observe and imitate a same sex role model
what was nbanduras second study aim
to test whether children would be more likey to observe and imitate an agressive role model in real life film compared to a cartoon
what was banduras sample for the second study
96 - 48 boys, 48 girls standford university nursery
what was banduras procedure for his secind study
children first played with finger paints and stickers.
experimental group watched a short video of human dressed in a cat costume beat a bobo doll, punching it, hitting with a platic mallet, or saying ‘sock him on the nose’. the non -experminental condition saw the rm in real life. the other condition was a cartoon of agressive behaviour
children then went into anouther room and observed their behaviour tallying the behaviour replicated from rm
what where banduras findings for his second study
the cartoon condition produced more non-imitative agression but less imitative aggressive whereas the human models where the other way around
what did bandura concude from the second study
that children will observe and imitate a same sex role model even if that role models actions are shown on tv
what was the aim of banduras third study
to find out if children would be more likely to oobserve and imitate rm or less likeyly to observe and imitate agressive rm depeinding on vicarious reinforcement they recived
how many pp did bandura use dor his third study
66
what where the conditions of the third procedure
those in the posistive incentive catagory watched rm and saw rm rewarded wih seven up and sweets and told ‘good job; in the aggressive condition negative reinforcement rm was hit with a news paper and repremanded
what where the findings of banduras third conition
that the negative reinforcement condition produced less imitation than the others
after positive incentive the imitation of rm in both boys and girls increased
