Q

How to balance equations

(Rules and step by step):

A

There must always be the same number of atoms of each element on both sides.

You balance the equation by putting numbers infront of the formulas where needed.

Example: H2SO4 + NaOH → Na2SO4 + 2H2O

To make the equation balanced you need to add two more H atoms to the right side.

Now there are too many H atoms. Add another number to balance both sides.

H2SO4 + 2NaOH → Na2SO4 + 2H2O
