What is timed up and go?

seat- back of seat and resting arms on the chair’s arms
stopwatch begins from Physio says go
stopwatch stops when button touches the seat
What does timed up and go test?
measures strength, coordination, balance
What is the functional reach tests?
standing with shoulder at 90degrees, how far finger can be taken forwards without losing balance
What is the 180 degree turn?
patient stands with you behind them
as the patient turns around to face you, the patient should not hold onto anything unless they need to
if they do they failed the test
count how many steps it takes to turn
What does 180 degree turn measure?
dynamic balance in those who don’t currently require a walking aid
patients who take 5 or more steps are considered to have an increased risk of falling, might have a balance impairment
What is the star excursion balance test?
6-8 ft tape
45 degree angle
8 points
reach as far as you can in 8 directions
What does star excursion balance test measure?
strength
flexibility
proprioception
anterior, posteromedial and posterolateral directions appear to be important to identify individuals with chronic ankle instability and athletes at a greater risk of lower extremity injury
What is the Rhomberg test?
arms cross and hands placed on shoulders
