When does the server serve from the right side of the court?
When the score is 0 or when the sever has scored an even number or points

How does the serving in a singles game work?
If the serving player has an even number of points they serve from the right side of the court and if they get a point their next serve is from the left side. The server continues to alternated service counts until he/she commits a fault

How does serving work in a doubles game?
If the servers team has an even number of points they serve from the right, If they have an odd number they serve from the left. The receiving team doesn’t alternate courts
What does a Fault by the server result in?
Loss of serve
What does a fault committed by the receiving side result in?
A point being scored by the serving side
What are 3 or more could committed by the receiving team?
- The shuttle in service is struck above the servers waist, or the head of the racquet is not clearly below the serving hand at impact.
- The shuttle falls outside the boundary lines of the service court.(on the line is in)
- The feet of the server and receiver are not stationary within the proper court when the shuttle is served. (In doubles play the servers and receivers are partners may stand anywhere provided they do not obstruct the opponents view)
- The server or receiver makes a “feint”
- The shuttle fails to pass over the net:
How do you know if it’s a fault? Name at least 4 ways
- The shuttle falls out of bounds, or fails to make it over the net, or touched the roof of sidewalks, or touches a person or their clothing.
- A player reaches over the net to play the shuttle. (It is however legal for a player to follow-through over the net on a stroke.)
- A player obstructs an opponent.
- A player touches the net while the bird is in play.
- The shuttle is hit twice in Succession by the same player or hit more than once on the same side.
- The shuttle is scooped or held by the racquet.
What is a let?
A stoppage of play, which results in a replay.
Something is a let if…
A) the shuttle after passing over the net in service or during a rally is caught In or on the net.
B) both the server and receiver commit a fault at the same time

Hitting the shuttle twice in succession in the same stroke.(this is illegal)
What is the face?
The hitting surface of the racquet.

Any violation of the rules or a playing error.

A movement made to deceive the opponent

The part of the stroke that comes after the shuttle has been contracted

A player hinders An opponent when playing a shot

What does overhead mean?
A stroke played above head height

An extended exchange of shots during play or in the warm up

A balanced stance that enables a player to initiate movement in any direction

The spot where the cork of the shuttle lands
