Q

Describe the water cycle.

A

Water evaporates form the land or the sea and plants.
Warm water vapour travels upwards.
Cools can condenses into clouds.
Water falls from the clouds as precipitation providing fresh water to plants and animals.
Some water gets absorbed and used by animals and plants.
Unabsorbed water runs off into streams land rivers.

Q

Describe the carbon cycle.

A

CO2 is used by plants and algae.
Some CO2 is released by plants and algae during respiration.
When plants and algae are consumed their carbon store is passed up the food chain.
Animals respire releasing CO2 .
Dead animals, plants and algae are consumed by other detritus feeders and microorganisms. These organisms respire.
Animals produce waste which detritus feeders and microorganisms break down.
Combusting wood and fossil fuels releases CO2.
