15

16
Q

What does oestrogen do?

A

This is secreted by the ovaries to build up the lining of the uterus. It also stimulates the pituitary gland to release luteinising hormones

17
Q

What happens as oestrogen levels rise?

A

They inhibit the production of Follicle-stimulating hormone, so 2 eggs can’t mature immediately

18
Q

What do Luteinising hormones do?

A

When luteinising hormones reach a peak in their levels during the middle of the cycle, ovulation is triggered.

19
Q

What does progesterone do?

A

It maintains the uterus lining. Levels of this remain high during pregnancy
