  • Egg: 130µm
  • Sperm: 60 x 5µm
  • Neurone: varies 4 to 3000 µm in the brain; can be over a metre as a motor neurone
  • Striated muscle fibre: 20 to 100 μm in diameter for a human and it can be over 100,000 µm long
  • Red blood cell: 8µm
  • White blood cell: 10 µm when inactive; 30 µm if it is activated as an antibody-secreting plasma cell
