a type of catheter that
remains inside the bladder for a period of time; urine drains into a bag

leave the body.

the delivery of medication, nutrition, or fluids through a person’s vein

Inventory/Belonging List
A small bag that connects to an
indwelling catheter to collect urine. It is strapped to the leg and can be hidden under clothing.
Leg Bag
A corner that is made by folding
and tucking the sheet so that it lies flat and neat against the mattress.
Mitered Corner
a bed made while a person is in the
bed
Occupied Bed
a bed made with linen folded down to
the foot of the bed, ready to receive a patient or resident
Open Bed
any intervention used in
place of a restraint or that reduces the need for a restraint

a measure or condition that keeps
someone or something under control or within limits
Restraints
gathered matter of a medical patient’s tissue, fluid, or other material derived from the patient used for laboratory analysis

Devices connected to the sides of a bed
that can be raised or lowered, intended to prevent a patient from falling
Side Rails
a catheter that does not remain
inside the person; it is removed immediately after urine is drained or collected
Straight Catheter
is a surgically created connection between the urinary bladder and the skin used to drain urine from the bladder in individuals with obstruction of normal urinary flow
Suprapibic Catheter
top pleat made at the end of the
bed over the toes as a last step of making an occupied bed, allows toes to move freely
Toe Tuck (Pleat)
